Banking institution is an integral part of the present economic system. To get an insight about the functioning of a bank, learners of Grade IV were taken to RBL bank, Mira road branch. It was an attempt to show kids how math skills apply to everyday life and work when they grow up. We arrived at the branch by 9 am; the Branch Manager addressed the learners on behalf of his staff. He gave students a tour of the various cabins and counters with its functions, i.e. Manager’s cabin, cash counter, server room, locker room, senior citizen’s counter, help desk and customer care services. He explained about his role and operation manager’s role in the bank. The cash counter in charge demonstrated the way cash is counted with the help of digital technology. The branch manager also explained about the usage of lockers and vaults available in bank. The operation manager explained about the help desk and customer care counter, special services provided for senior citizens. Lastly the learners were taken to adjoining RBL’s ATM to demonstrate the way automated teller machine functions with digital instructions. It was a fruitful session, it facilitated in learning about some terms and concepts related to bank as a financial institution.
